HOW TO MEASURE FOR A FIREPLACE DOOR

The first thing to look at is the height of the floor inside of the fireplace relative to the height of the floor outside of the fireplace. Stock sized fireplace doors rest onto the floor just outside of the opening. If the fireplace does not have a a floor outside of the opening called a hearth, the door will have to either be supported with mounting brackets or by some other means on site.
Measure the width at 3 places on the width and height. Note any dimensions that appear larger or smaller than based on the irregularity of the opening. All doors will have a size range that the door fits. Often times an opening that is not square, is not an issue.
Check around the opening. Our size charts will tell you the outside dimensions of the fireplace door frame.With your fireplace dimensions, you will be able to measure how much the door will overlap. Make sure there are no obstructions that will cause a size conflict with the door frame.

Fireplace doors are an attractive and functional way to finish your fireplace. Fireplace doors block 80% - 90% of either conditioned air from your home from leaving, or stopping unconditioned air from coming in. Leaving your fireplace open without a door is like leaving a window open. Fireplace glass doors are a great way to keep smoke out of the house when getting your fire going and when the fire is dying out. Mesh is either standard or optional on all fireplace doors to prevent sparks from coming out of the fireplace when the doors are open. They are also an attractive piece to finish your fireplace. Many frame sizes and styles are available to finish your fireplace.
