Fire has the Power to Improve Your Health and Wellbeing

The Power of Fire

We have always known sitting by a fire is relaxing, now we have data to prove it. Napoleon Fireplaces recently teamed up with professors at the University of Illinois and the University of Alabama to prove this theory. Since 2020, 50% of the population feel their life is more stressful. This takes a toll on both our mental and physical health. Studies show that 70% of adults in the US are interested in products that will improve their health. This study highlights how a fireplace in our home can both relax us and stimulate us.

Fire Relaxes

Professors at the University of Alabama used physical markers to prove how exposure to a fireplace can improve your health.  The study revealed that 15 minutes in front of a fireplace can lower both your heart rate as well as lower your blood pressure. High Blood Pressure and heart rate both increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, heart disease, and many other health complications. Decreasing your heart rate and blood pressure is not only good for your physical health but it also promotes a feeling of relaxation. Mental wellbeing tops the list of the most important health and wellness factors.

Fire Stimulates

The University of Illinois professors were brought in to measure the impact of fireplace exposure to a person’s mental clarity and healthy aging. People were given various tasks to complete in various rooms of a home. The room with a fireplace was the room where study participants achieved the highest scores. Now of course this doesn’t mean having a fireplace makes a person smarter. It does however show that the positive stimuli of a fireplace can help your mental sharpness. Fireplaces stimulate cognitive wellbeing. After a long day, being our best self to our partners and families will increase our quality of life.

Incorporate A Fireplace Into Your Home

So the health benefits have been clearly laid out. The question most wonder is - how do I get started? The best thing to do is to hop online and search for the type of fireplace you are looking for. Electric Fireplaces can conveniently be installed into most rooms of a home where you have a power source. The technology used in Electric Fireplaces has improved significantly in the last decade. Gas Direct-Vent Fireplaces as well as Gas Vent-Free fireplaces provide great installation flexibility and a real burning flame. If you are planning to build or remodel, a wood fireplace and chimney can be incorporated to your project.

A Fireplace Will Improve Your Well Being
