Fireplace Heaters
Fireplace grate heaters are heat exchangers for your masonry wood burning fireplace. A standard open fireplace can draw more heat out of your house than it produces. A wood heater increases the heat output of your fireplace by up to 40,000 BTUs. The grate body is made of 11 gauge thick steel tubing. Air is circulated through this tubing from one side of the grate to the other, thus acting like a heat exchanger. Fireplace heaters can be used with fireplace doors. When sizing a fireplace door, subtract 1 3/8" from the opening height. The fireplace door will rest on the 2" deep ledge at the front of the fireplace heater.
