Questions and Answers

Customer Questions
Can a wood burning buck insert be converted to gas burning?
No, a wood burning fireplace or stove cannot be converted into a gas fireplace or stove. Attempting to install a gas appliance into a wood insert is dangerous and not advised as a wood burning system is designed for small amounts of air for combustion and gas systems need excessive amounts of air. You would need to replace the entire insert with one that is suitable for a gas fire.    If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call! Thanks
If I have a plug in my existing fireplace can I install a ventless gas insert?
The 34ZC does not require an electrical outlet in the fireplace. It can be plugged into an exterior electrical outlet. The plug is required for the blower. A gas line connection is required for the gas burner of the insert. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Gas?
Yes, this fireplace unit comes in natural gas or propane gas. Any further questions feel free to give us a call! Thanks
Approximately how much to put in a propane line?
Every area is different, it depends on length and difficulty of run, it would be best to get a local quote. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call! Thanks.
How much does the pedestal/mantel cost for this gas fireplace?
The price of this fireplace with pedestal/mantel varies by the size and color you choose. Please select the type you would like using the drop down provided on the product page to see the price. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
There is a fireplace but no chimney can this Buck Stove Model 34ZC be used where the gas logs went?
Depending on the type of opening for your fireplace, this could be a good option. However, we encourage you to please refer to the installation manual of the Buck Stove 34ZC and give our experts a call - we would be happy to talk through what type of opening you have and what kind of fireplace you are looking for. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
If this unit is ventless what is the source of oxygen and does carbon monoxide accumulate in the room?
The oxygen is from the room, and there is a Oxygen depletion sensor on the unit that will cause the unit to turn off if there is not enough oxygen in the room. It is recommended to have a carbon monoxide detector in all rooms with any type of gas appliance.
How many BTUs?
This unit has 33,000 heating BTUs. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call! Thank you.
