Is there an adjustment or orifice kit for 5900’ elevation? Will it work at this altitude?
The Hepplewhite stove is not tested to work at altitudes over 2000’ above sea level. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Is there a compatible thermostatic remote control?
Yes, there is a compatible remote. Please check out the Buck Stove Thermostatic Remote Control Model # PO FDC-504-S for your Buck Hepplewhite Stove. This remote can also be found under the "Accessories" on this stove. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
How hot does the exterior get?
An exact temperature is hard to gauge but it does get hot enough to advise caution. Directly from the manual: "Due to high temperatures the appliance should be located out of traffic and away from furniture and draperies. Do not place clothing or other flammable material on or near appliance. Never place any objects on heater. Stove becomes very hot when running heater. Keep children and adults away from hot surfaces to avoid burns or clothing ignition. Stove will remain hot for a time after shutdown. Allow surfaces to cool before touching. Carefully supervise young children when they are in the room with heater. When using handheld remote accessory, keep selector switch in OFF position to prevent children from turning on burners with remote. Keep appliance area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids." If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
What is the clearance needed around this stove from other objects? ie: how far from the wall
The minimum distance between side walls and the back wall is 4 inches and a 48 inch clearance from the ceiling. Maintain the minimum clearances. If you can, provide greater clearances from ceiling and adjoining side and back walls. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Does this model have an optional blower?
Yes, this model can use an optional blower. Information regarding the blower and installation can be found in the attached manual on page 8. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Does it work when the power is off?
Yes, in the event of a power outage, you can use this heater as your primary heat source. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Is this stove propane or natural gas?
This stove can be purchased in either Natural Gas or Propane Gas. When purchasing on our website, you will be asked to choose which "fuel type" you would like as well as the "finish" or color of the stove itself. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Can unit still start if we lose electricity- back up battery start?
Yes, it looks like you can use this in case if power outage. Please see page 9 of the Installation Manual which states: "*NOTICE: This heater is intended for use as supplemental heat. Use this heater along with your primary heating system. Do not install this heater as your primary heat source. Do not run ceiling fan while heater is running. In the event of a power outage, you can use this heater as your primary heat source." Can this be used in a manufactured home?
This appliance may be installed in an aftermarket*, permanently located, manufactured home, where not prohibited by state or local codes. This appliance is only for use with the type of gas indicated on the rating plate. This appliance is not convertible for use with other gases.
